The Springfield Thunderbirds Stick to Reading program, proudly presented by MassMutual, promotes literacy amongst elementary school students in the Western Massachusetts community. Area schools will have the opportunity to participate in a 6-week reading program during the Springfield Thunderbirds regular season.
At the conclusion of the program, certain schools and students will have the opportunity to meet and read with Thunderbirds players and mascot Boomer! Students who complete the program in its entirety will be invited to the MassMutual Center to watch a T-Birds home game!

Week 1-2: Get Hype!
During the first week of the Stick to Reading Program, Boomer and T-Birds staff members will pay visits to participating classrooms to get students amped about participation! At this time, the program information will be distributed to all students to take home to their parents/guardians.
Week 3: It's LIT!
Literacy Is Timeless: During this phase of the program, T-Birds players will visit top performing classrooms and read aloud to the students!*Please note, player appearance dates/times may change on short notice - the Florida Panthers have the final say on dates for appearances*
Week 6: It's Game Time!
During this stage, T-Birds staff members will return to the classroom, and teachers will be given the exact number of tickets for students who successfully met the goals of the program. Certificates and bookmarks will also be distributed to those who completed their reading programs!
