T-Birds Recall F Turgeon from Manchester (ECHL)

Springfield, MA- The Springfield Thunderbirds announced on Friday that they have recalled forward Tony Turgeon from the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL, signing him to a PTO.

In 38 games with the Monarchs this season, the 6-foot-4, 231-pound winger has a goal and 10 assists, as well as 79 penalty minutes. Turgeon has 58 games of AHL experience with both the San Antonio Rampage and Portland Pirates.

A native of Grand Forks, N.D., Turgeon played collegiately at the University of Nebraska-Omaha from 2010-2013.

After visiting the Syracuse Crunch Friday, Springfield will continue its weekend set on Saturday for Pink in the Rink night in Springfield against the Hartford Wolf Pack. The ice will be painted pink for the first time in Springfield hockey history, and the Thunderbirds will wear specialty jerseys for the occasion. Presented by Baystate Health and Health New England, the Pink in the Rink jerseys will be auctioned live after the game, with proceeds benefiting Rays of Hope. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. ET.
