T-Birds Sign D Erixon to AHL Contract

Springfield, MA- The Springfield Thunderbirds announced today that they have signed defenseman Tim Erixon to an AHL Standard Player's Contract.
 
Erixon, 26, is in his seventh professional season in North America. He began the 2017-18 AHL season with the Binghamton Devils, where he registered one assist and a +3 rating in five games played.
 
This is Erixon's second AHL stint in Springfield, having played in 80 games as a member of the Springfield Falcons from 2012-14. In those 80 games, Erixon scored 10 goals and added 57 assists for 67 points and a +5 rating.
 
Originally a first round pick (23rd overall) of the Calgary Flames in the 2009 NHL Draft, Erixon has played in 93 NHL games with the New York Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He has two goals and 12 assists in his NHL career.
 
In 256 AHL games with the Connecticut Whale, Falcons, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and Binghamton Devils, Erixon has produced 20 goals and 118 assists for 138 points, as well as 168 penalty minutes and a +38 rating.
 
The Thunderbirds will have another three-game, three-night weekend on the slate this week, beginning with a Friday night home matchup against the Hartford Wolf Pack for Willie O'Ree Night on November 3 at 7:05 p.m. ET. The night will double as a 3-2-1 Friday with concession deals through the end of the first period.
