Thunderbirds Sign D Brodeur to PTO

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Thunderbirds announced on Tuesday that they have signed defenseman Mathieu Brodeur to a PTO.
 
A native of Montreal, QC, the 27-year-old Brodeur joins the Thunderbirds after skating in 56 games last season with the Eastern Conference champion Syracuse Crunch, where he registered three goals and 10 assists while logging 57 penalty minutes. During the Crunch's run to the Calder Cup Finals, Brodeur scored a goal and added three assists in 22 playoff contests.
 
Additionally, Brodeur participated in 15 games in 2016-17 with the ECHL's Adirondack Thunder, where he scored four goals and added 15 assists. The Thunderbirds are Brodeur's sixth different AHL club since turning pro in 2009-10.
 
The Thunderbirds begin the regular season right back in Providence on Saturday, Oct. 7 for a 7:05 p.m. ET puck drop. Coverage can be heard live on NewsRadio 560 WHYN.
 
Springfield will open its 2017-18 home ice schedule on Saturday, Oct. 14 for a matchup with the rival Hartford Wolf Pack; the action begins with a pre-game Block Party from 4-6 p.m. ET at Court Square, featuring live music from Trailer Trash, followed by the game itself at 7:05 p.m. ET.
