T-Birds, White Lion Unveil ThunderBoom Commemorative Can Series

Dec 27, 2022

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Springfield Thunderbirds announced today, in partnership with White Lion Brewing, the release of the Thunderboom Commemorative Can Series, which will prominently feature the Thunderbirds’ four upcoming specialty jerseys in the second half of the 2022-23 regular season.

To kick off this unique collaboration, Thunderbirds players will take part in a Celebrity Bartending at White Lion (located inside Tower Square - 1500 Main St, Springfield) on Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

At this event, fans of all ages are welcome to enjoy the company of Thunderbirds players plus live 90s music by DJ Onyx (Brenton Jenkins), and the Springfield Falcons-inspired cans will be available to fans 21 and older. Fans that cannot make it to this event will get the chance to purchase these limited-edition cans at Throwback weekend January 6 & 7. The T-Birds will wear the original Falcons jerseys on the ice Saturday, January 7 vs. the Utica Comets.

The Ice-O-Topes (February 4, 2023), Military Appreciation (February 25, 2023) and Pink in the Rink (March 11, 2023) themed jersey cans will be available the week leading up to those respective promotional nights at the MassMutual Center, and will be available on an extremely limited basis on a first-come, first-served basis on the night of these events.

“White Lion has been one of the longest supporters of Thunderbirds hockey in the local community, and we are very excited for this fun collaboration,” said Thunderbirds President Nathan Costa. “The new Thunderboom Can Series will make for another unique souvenir collectible our fans can enjoy and proudly display with their other Thunderbirds memorabilia.”

Thunderboom was created collaboratively between the Thunderbirds & White Lion Brewing, the only craft brewer in Springfield, MA. A new england IPA, Thunderboom is a brimming beer with flavors of tropical and stone fruits, brewed with mosaic, moteuka, cascade and columbus hops.

"White Lion is excited to see its partnership with the Springfield Thunderbirds continue to evolve and enter new creative territory,” said White Lion Brewing Company President Ray Berry. “Collectively our hometown beer, Thunderboom New England IPA, is a seasonal staple and a very popular choice during the AHL hockey season. Our partnership exemplifies the pride of Springfield, hometown spirit, and community collaboration. This limited and one-of-a-kind series will be available primarily at select western Massachusetts accounts."

Fans attending the Celebrity Bartending event on Jan. 4 will also have the ability to get parking validated at Tower Square Garage.
