One of the most touted defense prospects in all of hockey, Perunovich – a second-round pick by the Blues in 2018 - is coming off a surgery that kept him off the ice in 2020-21. In his final collegiate season with the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Perunovich captured the Hobey Baker Award as the NCAA’s top player, scoring 40 points (6 goals + 34 assists) in 34 games with the Bulldogs in 2019-20. The pandemic is the only thing that prevented Perunovich and UMD from pursuing a third consecutive national championship.
