T-Birds Recall G Brittain from Manchester (ECHL)

Dec 28, 2016

Springfield, MA – The Springfield Thunderbirds announced on Wednesday that they have recalled goaltender Sam Brittain from the Manchester Monarchs (ECHL).

The 24-year-old Brittain was enjoying a fine season with the Monarchs, posting 13 wins, a 2.62 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. The former University of Denver standout was 8-10-3 last season with the Portland Pirates prior to the franchise's move to Springfield. He has 12 career AHL victories dating back to 2014-15, when he won four starts as a member of the San Antonio Rampage.

The native of Calgary, Alberta joins the Thunderbirds in the midst of a busy three-game, four-night stretch to close out the 2016 calendar year.

The Thunderbirds have yet to drop four straight games in regulation this season, a fate they can avoid with a win in Bridgeport on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds' schedule intensifies in a busy month of January to follow, with 13 games in just 25 nights, including three against the Sound Tigers in the midst of a busy 12-game season series.

Springfield returns home to close out 2016 for a New Year's Bash against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday, Dec. 30 at 7:05 p.m. ET. Tickets are available by visiting www.SpringfieldThunderbirds.com or by calling (413) 739-GOAL.
