The Thunderbirds, American Legion, and Massachusetts State Lottery have teamed up to bring you the Hometown Salute. 

In proudly supporting all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth, the Mass Lottery, in conjunction with the Springfield Thunderbirds, have teamed up to show their appreciation for members of our community who are actively serving or have previously served our country in the armed forces.  At every Friday and Sunday home game this season, the Thunderbirds will honor an individual who has gone beyond the call of duty during this Hometown Salute.

Additionally, for every Wednesday and Saturday home game this season, the Thunderbirds will honor a veteran or active service member as part of the American Legion Challenge Accepted program, meaning an individual will be recognized for their service at all Thunderbirds home games. Nominees receive a Thunderbirds prize pack along with an exclusive run of co-branded Thunderbirds and American Legion challenge coins.
